# Units of Work: Statistical Investigations

Underpinning the units of work on this site is our strong belief that students need to be actively involved in all aspects of the investigation. When we organise and structure the investigation for them we take away from them the chance to think and the chance for them to present their ideas in ways that make sense to them. Over Levels 1 to 4, the four aspects of question, collect, display and discuss, develop together as part of the overall concept of statistical investigation. See the links in the "Learning Sequence" column for more detail on the steps in the sequence. A number of these statistics investigations involve the use of computer spreadsheets. These units are marked with *.
